PAGOH: A member of the board of directors of National Farmers Organization (NAFAS), YB Tuan Muhamad Said bin Jonit recently visited the Malaysia-Japan Advanced Research Centre (MJARC) facility, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. The visit was arranged to explore the possibility of collaborative research and development between NAFAS and MJARC.
The one-day visit on 22 January 2020 was hosted by Dr Pramila Tamunaidu from MJARC. The visit began with the introduction of subcritical water (SCW) technology. A demonstration was carried out to show the use of SCW technology in treating agricultural waste. Using the SCW technology, agricultural waste such as grass can be processed into organic fertilizer and animal feed as a value-added product that has the potential for commercialization.
In addition, the YB was also accompanied to visit planting areas, such as calabash, pineapple, and sugar cane. All of these plants are grown by utilizing the organic fertilizer from the SCW technology. The day ended with the presentation of a gift to the YB who was willing to visit MJARC. MJARC is looking forward to collaborating with NAFAS in order to achieve meaningful outcomes for the community in the future.
